Congratulations to our Director of Public Relations, Brant Skogrand, APR, MBC, CPPM, on his recent win at the annual Minnesota Public Relations Society of America Classics Awards!
Skogrand PR Solutions won in the “Public Service, Agency/Organization with >25 Employees” category for its work on a campaign with Pillsbury United Communities and the City of Minneapolis to spark conversations about gun violence.
Using art as the language for dialogue, Pillsbury United Communities took a multiphase approach. The organization first presented the national Guns in the Hands of Artists exhibit, followed by a gun buyback in partnership with the City of Minneapolis, and then a call for artists to take the decommissioned reclaimed weapons and use them as raw materials in art.
Results included approximately 150 guns surrendered at the gun buyback, nearly 50 million media impressions secured during the campaign, and more than 700 comments about the gun buyback on news websites.
